Assassin’s Creed is getting a live-action Netflix series
Let it be good
One of the most popular video game franchises of all time is getting its own Netflix Original series. The streaming platform revealed on its blog that an ‘epic, genre-bending’ live-action adaptation of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed is underway.
‘We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for’, said Vice President for Original Series, Peter Friedlander.
‘From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy’.

The project is in the very early stages as it doesn’t even have a showrunner yet. It’s also unclear when or where the series will take place, as AC’s lore features different time periods, such as the American Civil War, the Egyptian Empire, and most recently, the Viking Age.
AC was previously adapted into an okay-ish live-action film starring Michael Fassbender and took place in 15th century Spain. Still, with the success of Castlevania and Henry Cavill’s The Witcher, here’s hoping Netflix has finally found the cure to terrible adaptations of beloved video games.
