People are renting out solo cinemas just for gaming
Just pandemic tingz
Amidst the widespread closure of pvblic spaces due to the pandemic, cinemas around the world are opening the possibility of renting out their theatres for solo gamers and cinephiles.
With UK’s Odeon Cinemas and USA’s American Multi-Cinema long offering the service, Malaysia’s Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has now introduced the concept to Asia to the tune of RM188 (PHP 2,180+) for 3 hours of big-screen playing.
‘You’ve seen movies on the big screen, but have you played games on the BIG SCREEN? Now you can book a hall from us from only RM188 and play your favorite Plashspeed or Switch games! Not even kidding.’ GSC shared via Facebook.
GSC’s PHP 2,180 rental fee will get your three hours of playtime in the whole cinema with your physically distanced friends, while their deluxe package of RM250 (PHP 2,900) can get you food and drinks from the cinema’s food hall.
Like an extra bougie Internet cafe, you can also opt to extend your stay for a little extra.
As any other open space, GSC has health regulations to ensure customers’ safety such as bringing your own console, controllers, and bringing only digital copies of games.
On the downside, there’s no signal nor Internet connection inside the cinema, so Internet-free co-op games are the best way to enjoy big-screen gaming.
PH, when?
