Pulse Asia says Prez Duterte is pretty cool – even with the pandemic

‘No doubt?’

Even with PH topping the Southeast Asia region with COVID-19 cases, leading to one of the world’s longest lockdown and the country’s worst recession in years, Filipinos still think President Duterte is still pretty solid.

That is, according to the first Pulse Asia survey conducted during the pandemic, where Duterte scored a 91% in trust and approval rating. The score is reportedly even 4% higher than the last study conducted in December 2019, so we guess we really are living in happy dandy land.

Duterte’s rating is even more impressive, considering that, aside from his administration’s lagging COVID-19 response, 2020 was the year he pardoned convicted American murderer Scott Pemberton, as well as the exposure of the PHP 15 billion PhilHealth scandal, headlined by one of his appointees.

Conversely, despite the crapton of initiatives made by her office during the course of the pandemic, as well as state addresses that actually make sense, Vice President Leni Robredo netted a 57% approval rating.

Meanwhile, her trust rating dipped 3 points down to 50%, which again, makes sense, we guess?
