‘A Quiet Place 3’ gets green light ahead of sequel’s premiere

When a movie franchise gets the nod to add another title ahead of the premiere of its current one, you know it’s doing pretty well.

That seems to be the case with A Quiet Place, which recently got the green light to make the third film in the series, even before the debut of the sequel to the 2018 hit. Per Deadline, the latest installment will serve as a spinoff and features an original story by John Krasinski, who wrote and directed the first two films.

Jeff Nichols (Mud, Loving), is set to take over the directing duties from Krasinski.

Not much is known about plot, but ScreenRant surmises that the third film could expand the world and feature new survivors, given that Krasinski had the same idea for the second film. That was later shot down, as A Quiet Place 2 opted to continue the story of now-widowed Emily Abbott (Emily Blunt) and her children.

Based on the trailer, A Quiet Place 2 will also explore the early days of the apocalypse and introduce new characters such as Emmett, played by Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Peaky Blinders).

Given the sequel’s shift to a much larger world compared to the first, ‘A Quiet Place 2’ could serve as an introduction of what bodes for the spinoff, which is projected to drop sometime in 2022. Meanwhile, A Quiet Place 2 has been delayed to April 2021
