Absolut Vodka is bringing its iconic LGBTQ-themed bottle to PH

A brand that has been a vocal advocate of LGBTQ+ culture for the past 39 years is bringing the same kind of love to the Philippines.

Absolut Vodka is set to drop this November its limited-edition LGBTQ-themed vodka bottle, called the ‘Rainbow’ edition. The design, first introduced in 2008, depicts the colors of the pride flag in brush strokes, evoking the freedom and diversity of the community, as well as the brand’s artistic heritage.

The bottle also features a ‘Taking Back Diversity’ statement at the back, serving as a rallying cry for equality.

As noted by Brand Manager Frances Favila, Absolut Vodka has championed the cause of the LGBTQ community since the early 1980s, with its founder Lo Smith being a pioneer for human rights and an advocate for openness, diversity, and equality since the brand’s founding in 1879.

Back in 1981, the brand was one of the first to launch a gay-themed campaign in a mainstream publication. For more than three decades, it has supported Pride festivals and non-profit organizations such as GLAAD, which advocates against the defamatory coverage of LGBTQ people in media.

‘With the numerous LGBTQ+ population here in the Philippines, it was only right that we celebrated their pride’, said Favila.
