Even Spotify has their own version of Stories now

When will it end

If you’re still a grouchy digital nomad scowling over Twitter Fleets, welcome to the club. To heighten that unnecessary anger, we’re happy to inform you that Spotify is now launching their own version of 24-hour only content. Yes, the music streaming app.

The app first asked artists to lend a hand in introducing the product, as it was first seen on the page of Megan Trainor, Mariah Carey, and certain Spotify-curated playlists.

Based on the locations given the beta testing, the interface is simple enough. While you’re on someone’s Spotify profile or playlist, a pop-up message appears reading ‘Tap to see the story’ where lo and behold, you can watch someone jamming out or explaining how they made the song.

‘At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience,’ A Spotify spokesperson said to The Verge confirming the feature.

‘Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time.’

While it all sounds too damn similar with every other Story feature out there (even LinkedIn has it now), the addition of artists and composters actually explaining how they made their hits may just be Spotify’s best chance to thrive.

Hopefully, anyway
