Black Mirror is surprise-dropping a ‘Death to 2020’ mockumentary

With 2020 already feeling like a full-blown season of ‘Black Mirror’, the UK-based anthology series is turning up the volume with an all-new episode aptly titled ‘Death To 2020‘.
Creator Charlie Booker took to Twitter to announce the surprise episode, with a fast-paced teaser video to get fans hyped for their messed-up take on this already messed-up year.
‘Even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make this year up, but they do have something to add: Death to 2020.’
— Charlie Brooker (@charltonbrooker) December 3, 2020
Booker had shared earlier this year that he won’t be releasing any episodes soon, as 2020 has been pretty Black Mirror-eque as is.
‘At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on any of those [episodes],’ he said.
It seems like he’s since shifted lanes though, as actor Hugh Grant recently confirmed he’ll be starring in the mockumentary-style episode chronicling this year.
‘Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix,’ Grant shared with New York Magazine, where he said he’ll be a ‘historian who’s being interviewed about the year.
‘I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.’
With a pandemic, Pentagon-confirmed UFOs, and disappearing monoliths happening this 2020, we’re pretty excited to see their dystopian take to this already dystopian year.
