Erik Matti is bringing PH folklore to HBO
Our story on the silver screen
HBO is finally about to get the PH folklore treatment, as filmmaker Erik Matti is set to direct an episode of the HBO Asian-inspired horror anthology series ‘folklore‘.
Known for his spine-tingling thrillers like ‘Seklusyon’, and ‘Kuwaresma’, Matti will be showcase PH myths and superstitions to an episode of the series along with different Asian directors.
ICYDK, ‘folklore‘ serves a ‘Black Mirror’-esque premise, as its 2018 Season 1 debut featured six stand-alone horror episodes based on Asian folklore tales.
‘Direk Erik joins an impressive lineup of directors representing different territories in Asia, with each one directing an episode for the second season of the highly successful horror series,’ Reality Entertainment shared in a statement.
Matti will also be joined by fellow ‘folklore’s S2 directors: Thailand’s Sittisiri Mongkolsiri, Taiwan’s Shih-Han Liao, Indonesia’s Billy Christian, Singapore’s Nicole Midori Woodford, Malaysia’s Bradley Liew, and Japan’s Seiko Matsuda.
Not much is known about Matti’s episode, but initial photography and planning will apparently begin as early as next year.
Hope HBO gives the stories justice
