Hindi pinasakay sa isang United flight papuntang New Jersey ang isang pam¡lya dahil hindi raw nagsuot ng face mask ang kanilang dalawang taong gulang na anak na babae. Ayon sa United’s website, “the airline requires ‘all customers over the age of 2 and employees to wear a face-covering on board.” Ito ay dahil din sa kinahaharap na cor0nav¡rus disease (C0V¡D-19) pandem¡c.
Sa isa namang tweet noong Disyembre 12, sinabi ng Twitter user na si @elizfulop, “Today we got kicked off of a United flight going from Denver to Newark because our 2yo [two-year-old] would not ‘comply’ and keep her mask on.”
Dagdag pa ng Twitter user sa isang video na ibinahagi sa nasabing social media site, “We just got kicked off the flight because our two-year-old would not put on a mask. I mean we tried… and we’re banned off United forever because a two-year-old would not put on a mask.”
Mapapanood din sa video kung paanong pauli-ulit na sinusubukan ng ama ng bata na ilagay ang mask sa kanyang mukha, subalit inilalayo lamang ng huli ang kanyang ulo.
Ilang sandali pa, makikitang nakakandong ang bata sa kanyang ama habang walang suot na face mask, kasabay ng pag-anunsyo ng isang flight crew member na handan na ang eroplano para umalis.
Nilapitan ng isang flight attendant ang ama ng bata at sinabihang dalhin na nila ang kanilang mga gamit at lumabas na ng sasakyan.
Sagot naman ng ama, “You’ve got to be kidding me. Why? We’re over here holding this mask on her face.”
“I’m sorry sir. I gave you another opportunity,” ani naman ng flight attendant.
Sumagot muli ang ama at sinabing, “And I took that opportunity and ran with it. You see this, I’m literally covering her face… Do you guys do this all the time? … This is compliance. I’m literally holding it [face-covering] over my daughter’s face. This is compliance right here.”
Maya-maya pa’y makikita nang lumabas ang pam¡lya sa sasakyan habang walang face mask ang kanilang anak.
Sa isang pahayag sa Newsweek, sinabi ng United: “We are investigating this specific incident and have made contact with the fam¡ly. We also refunded their tickets and returned their car seats and bags.”
Dagdag pa rito, prayoridad daw nila ang kalusugan at kaligtasan ng kanilang mga employees at customers kaya nila ipinapatupad ang mahihigpit na mga polisiya, kabilang na ang pagsusuot ng facemask.
“Under this new policy, if a flight attendant notices or is informed of customer onboard who is not wearing a face-covering and that passenger does not fall within an exception, the flight attendant will proactively inform the customer that for the health and safety of everyone, face-coverings are mandatory for all customers and crew on board.
“If a customer continues to not comply, the flight attendant will file a report of the incident, which will initiate a formal review process. Any final decision or actions regarding a customer’s future flight benefits will not occur onboard but instead take place after the flight has reached its destination and the security team has investigated the incident.”
