Anya Taylor-Joy is reuniting with the creator of ‘Queen’s Gambit’
Unexpected duo of 2021
Actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who portrayed grandmaster Beth Harmon in the widely popular Netflix limited series ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, is once again teaming up with the show’s co-creator – but we’re not seeing more upside down chess games this time.
Per IndieWire, Anya is set to star in the Frank Scott’s upcoming adaptation of the Vladimir Nabokov nove ‘Laughter in the Dark’, a 1932 short story revolving around a inappropriate relationship between a middle-aged man and a young girl half his age. Think Lolita, but just a little bit older at 17. Still a minor, though.
‘I’m going to do it as a film noir and a movie within a movie. And it’s a really nasty, wonderful, thriller,’ Scott shared on the project’s supposed aesthetic.
Meanwhile, not much is known about the upcoming film, including the supposedly older actor opposite Anya – but if it’s anything like what they’ve come up with in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, we’re highkey ready. (Maybe just make Anya’s character a little older than the book)
And more of that Beth swagger please
