‘Peaky Blinders’ is ending with Season 6

Per Variety, Thomas Shelby and Co. are hanging up their flat caps by the end of Season 6. According to the report, the popular British drama was originally planned to last until its 7th season, but production problems brought by the pandemic forced its hand early.

The delays have also laid an aura of uncertainty on the farewell season’s actual release date, which could range from late 2021 until early 2022.

In a statement, show creator and writer Stephen Knight promised that the story would ‘continue in another form’. Knight didn’t give specifics, so we’d hazard a guess at a possible movie adaptation or a spinoff.

‘Peaky’ is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form’.

First premiering in 2013, ‘Peaky Blinders’ follows the story of the Shelby crime family in a post World War 1 Birmingham, England. The series has been acclaimed by critics for its writing and cinematography. It has also gained a massive following, both locally and internationally, with Season 5 raking in 3.7 million viewers, breaking the record for the show’s biggest premiere on UK television.
