Zild Benitez reminds us of that carefree college vibe in new single ‘Kyusi’

Oh, the freedom

Zild Benitez is branching out and traveling to Kyusi – and he’s taking us with him.

Dropping at the stroke of midnight last February 10th, the IV of Spades singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist’s newest track can’t help but bring us back to those carefree days of commuting with a college sweetheart. No troubles, just vibes.

Through the opening lyrics and dreamy harmonies, Zild vows that he’ll take us on a tour of a lifetime, crooning ‘sasamahan ka sa Kyusi / At iikutin na ang UP Diliman / Pagsakay natin ng jeepney / Pupuntahan naman ang bagong sinehan’. We can practically taste the glorious street fishballs.

The track then expounds as an open love letter, as he constantly reminds his love, ‘Di mo kailangan / Baguhin ang iyong anyo’.

Despite taking us to the good ‘ol days, the track actually serves as a sneak peek ino Zild’s musical prospects, as it’s his first release under the Rico Blanco-helmed label, Balcony Entertainment.

’Kyusi’ is a song that takes me back to my 18-year-old self, experiencing teenage love for the very first time,” recounts the 23-year old artist.

It also is a song about acceptance… in fact, I find that with the new songs I am writing, I finally overcame my fear of telling specific, personal stories – this is me being honest.’
