‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ could possibly be a movie
If you’re the type to find contentment in fleshed-out stories with a well-written closure, then you’re out of luck.
Per The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Warner Bros is not yet done with milking the heck out of the Harry Potter franchise, as a movie based on the controversial eighth installment, ‘The Cursed Child’ could be a possibility in the future.
WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar revealed his plans during an online investors conference, calling Harry Potter one of the studio’s most beloved IPs.
‘We’re incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue there’s a lot of fun and potential there as well’, said Kilar.
While Kilar was mum on details, THR reportedly heard talks of a movie adaptation of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, a stage play that follows the sons and daughters of the OG trio, which includes Albus Severus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, and Rose Granger-Weasley.
The Cursed Child received acclaim from theater critics, particularly the cast’s performances. However, the story became a polarizing issue with the fandom, with some describing it as fan fiction, a rehash of old storylines, and a failure to recognize established HP lore.
The expansion of the HP franchise seems inevitable at this point, with a TV series and video game set to drop in the coming years. We’re just hoping they don’t ‘massacre my boy’ just to get to that sweet, sweet moolah.
