ABS-CBN News chief cites ’embracing diversity’ for Chinese broadcast on ANC
Following a less-than-enthusiastic online reception, ABS-CBN News chief Ging Reyes has shared her two cents on ANC’s move to air Chinatown News TV, a nightly news program that caters to the Filipino-Chinese community.
In a series of tweets, Reyes appealed for the pvblic to disassociate the strained national relations between China and the Philippines from the actions of the Filipino-Chinese community.
‘They are part of Philippine society. Rather than belittle their attempt to provide a service for their local community, it’s time we embraced the diversity of this land we all call home.’
Reyes also assures that ABS-CBN has editorial control over CNTV’s content and that the translation of Mandarin, the program’s primary language, to English subtitles is accurate.

to provide a service to their local community, it’s time we considered embracing the diversity of this land we all call home. We have editorial control over their content, provide national news stories & ensure accuracy of the translation from Mandarin to English subtitles.

Currently, CNTV airs every Monday to Friday, from 9:30 PM to 10 PM on ANC. Launched in 2017, it prides itself as a promoter of Filipino-Chinese culture, as well as the ‘first news program that regularly reports Philippine headlines in Mandarin Chinese’, with English and Filipino as supporting languages.
Prior to ANC, CNTV aired on NET25, a network owned by members of Iglesia ni Cristo.
