It’s your last chance to see the Pink Supermoon tonight
Ever wondered what a Pink Supermoon looks like? Whether your reason is astrology related or you’re just really curious, you have two more chances to see it – and one of them is tonight!
The first supermoon of the year, a.k.a. the Pink Moon already graced the sky yesterday, April 27, at 11:32 p.m. EST. The Pink Supermoon will make its way again tonight at around 11 p.m, according to PAGASA weather specialist and research assistant Bernard Punzalan.
You can catch the last and biggest supermoon of the year called the ‘Super Flower Moon’ on May 26, 2021, at 7:14 p.m. EST.
In 1979, astrologer Richard Noelle popularized the term ‘supermoon,’ which refers to either a new or full Moon that appears when it has a 90% perigee, its closest distance to Earth. At perigee, the moon appears bigger than its actual size.
‘The real association of the Moon with both oceanic and crustal tides has led to claims that the supermoon phenomenon may be associated with an increased risk of events like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, but no such link has been found,’ according to PAGASA.
Before the next supermoon, consider taking down tips on how to view them, according to a NASA astrophysicist on how to properly view it.
