Zild captures the honesty of growing up in ‘Huminga’

ICYMI, Zild is handing in his petition as the patron saint of productivity with the release of his full-length album, Huminga; his second in two years. And while 2020’s Homework Machine was mostly inspired by electronic music, Huminga sees the OPM artist go back to basics, with a more organic sound and lyrics that hit closer to home.

‘As I was in the process of completing this record, I realized I wanted to be more honest with the songs, without over-thinking it’, said Zild.

The album’s first three releases conveyed as much. Kyusi waxed nostalgic over first-loves, Apat reminisced about the good-old friendships we used to have, and Bungantulog explored the downside of chasing lofty dreams, such as failed expectations.

Each single captures an aspect of growing up and all of the realities that come with it, whether they be positive or negative. In our Pvblic Spotlight interview, Zild described the album as life in the outdoors, where everything was ‘soft, piercing, heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny, sad, and nostalgic all at the same time.’

‘It’s a sunshine-y, warm and fuzzy experience with a nightmare… something any normal human being can relate to.’

As we get older, life takes and gives. Sometimes, things are epic, other times it’s a dud. We gain new additions and lose some forever. Huminga seeks to capture this confusing yet amazing journey of adulthood – while gifting us some solid tunes along the way.
