A lot of our fave tv show’s production schedules are on pause right now due to the current pandemic, but one of the longest-running medical-drama programs will get another season. The Emmy-winning continues its historic run as ABC confirmed the renewal of Grey’s Anatomy‘s 18th season.
The show’s official Instagram page dropped the news of the show’s renewal, with the caption, ‘Someone grab me a crash cart because #GreysAnatomy is coming back for Season 18!’

Apart from Ellen Pompeo, who signed a new deal to return to her iconic role as Dr. Meredith Grey, joining her are original stars Chandra Wilson (Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard). Alternatively, Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery) will not be coming back after 12 seasons with the show.
Variety also reported that Pompeo got another salary bump in her return to her iconic role. She also remains as ABC’s highest-earning actress in a primetime drama series.
‘The writers, directors, casts and crews of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 worked so hard to bring these shows to life this past season,’ said showrunner Krista Vernoff as per The Hollywood Reporter. ‘Keeping each other safe on set while paying tribute to the front-line heroes and first responders has been a challenge and a privilege. I’ve been truly blown away — particularly by our tireless crews — as they reinvented the TV-making wheel.’
While waiting for the next season, you can catch Grey’s Anatomy‘s 17th season on ABC or Disney Plus. The current season follows a world where the coronavirus pandemic is present and how frontliners tackle it.
