PGH was caught on fire yesterday, here’s how you can help

The country’s largest referral center against COVID-19, Philippine General Hospital (PGH), was caught on fire on May 16, Sunday. There were no reported casualties, but the healthcare system released a call for donations.

PGH spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario explained that the fire started at the Operating Room Sterilization Area on the third floor of the hospital’s central block building. This is the area where paying patients were admitted. The reason behind the fire is still under investigation, as per Rappler.

Below is a list of donation drive information you can check out to help recovering patients. Apart from cash donations, the hospital also urgently needs food, water, oxygen tanks, and industrial fans.

University of The Philippines Manila’s official Twitter account announced that the public should be wary of scammers. They posted publication materials to confirm bank accounts that they recognize.

Dr. Geraldine Zamora, a Clinical Associate Professor of UP-PGH, also posted a thread to confirm the official donation drives. The UP organization League of Filipino Students – CSSP and the highest decision-making body in the university UP Office of the Student Regent participated in managing donations as well.
