Here’s a sneak peek of Studio Ghibli amusement park’s ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ area
If you’re still waiting on the rumored Studio Ghibli and Pixar collab, put your worries aside since Ghibli has a better treat that comes with an actual date to look forward to. One of the many Ghibli films, My Neighbor Totoro, is getting its own spot at the Ghibli theme park.
After years of waiting for announcements, fans finally got a new sneak peek at the much-awaited tourist attraction. The latest update involves an image showing a large Totoro tree and a life-sized Catbus, as per Dazed. Once it’s safe to travel again, people can soon visit Ghilbi’s park at the Aichi Commemorative Park in Japan.
In place of the usual thrilling rides, Ghibli park will offer five district zones that bring to life the scenery of different movies, as per Polygon.
The Youth Hill will be based on Howl’s Moving Castle, which is reportedly the theme at the park’s entrance; Dondoko Forst Area will hold Mei and Satsuki’s house from My Neighbor Totoro; The Ghibli Large Warehouse Area is a location available all-year-round inspired by Spirited Away.
The Mononoke’s Village Area, is well, an ode to Princess Mononoke that will replicate the Mumromachi period from the film; The Witches’ Valley Area is a world combined of Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle that includes a mini amusement park.
The Ghibli park was slated to open in 2020, but the ongoing pandemic delayed plans. The park is now scheduled to launch in 2022, as per Forbes.
