Filipinos are so hyped for IKEA they crashed the website

Whether or not you’re a member of Home Buddies (or Homepaslupa Buddies), the launch of IKEA Philippines is a big deal when it comes to those who want to amplify their spaces. Its website crashed an hour past midnight today due to the surge of people signing up for its loyalty club.

Shortly after the website’s temporary fall, IKEA PH addressed the issue as it played around with an iconic break-up line that read, ‘It’s not you, it’s us.’ It also included an advisory to refresh the page so that people can proceed with registering for their membership.

The post stated, ‘We feel your excitement, Philippines. Hang in there, the IKEA Family website will be back very soon!’

People who are members of the “IKEA Family” will get access to rewards, benefits, and surprises from the homeware giant. While it has 150 million members worldwide, it aims to garner 100,000 members in the Philippines within 24 hours of its opening.

Last year, the furniture company announced that it would be available online through its e-commerce platform for its debut, with a physical store at the SM Mall of Asia to follow.
