Hidilyn Diaz apparently can’t wait to celebrate with milk tea
Before Hidilyn Diaz made history and earned the Philippines’ first Olympic gold, she went through years of training and hard work. While some people celebrate their wins with a bottle of champagne, she reportedly has a sweet tooth and can’t wait to eat cheesecake and milk tea.
‘I mean I’ve been sacrificing my food, and this is the time to celebrate together with the people who are behind me. So I’m really thankful I can eat now, yes,’ said Diaz, as she shared her plans after winning the women’s 55kg class.
The Zamboanga-based weightlifter also landed a silver Olympic medal during the 53kg class in the 2016 Rio Summer Games. It ended the 20-year medal drought streak of the country.

With the dedication to get the gold, Diaz hired new coaches and moved to Malaysia for her training. COVID-19 lockdowns took effect during her stay, so she hasn’t seen her family since December 2019.
‘I’m looking forward to enjoy life because I have been in Malaysia for, I don’t know, almost two years so I’m really thankful I can go home now and celebrate with my family and the people who support me,’ Diaz shared during the Tokyo International Forum.
