Athletes tests if Tokyo Olympic beds are really ‘anti-sex’
In preparation for this year’s Olympics, the organizers behind the event reportedly arranged cardboard beds for athletes. The implementation of the so-called “anti-sex” beds is to prevent them from any contact that would spread COVID-19.
Other reports stated that the mentioned claims were just rumors that started on Twitter. In fact, when the bed was first featured in the news in 2019, it didn’t contain information on it having anti-sexual purposes. The eco-friendly beds were actually a recycling initiative and are apparently stronger than wood.
While the explanation behind the athletes’ sleeping place has been cleared up, it didn’t stop several of them who are curious about the beds being ‘anti-sex.’ Below are a few videos showing how these players debunk the claims.
1. Rhys McClenaghan
The Irish gymnast began his video by saying, ‘In today’s episode of fake news at the Olympic games, the beds are made to be anti-sex.’ He explained that it’s made out of cardboard and jumped up and down to prove that it’s false.

2. Angel Martinez
The Mexican swimmer tested the stability of the cardboard by performing a basic move related to the sport he’s paying – he dove right onto his bed. With no damages in sight, he faced the camera and raised a thumbs-up sign.

3. Ilona Maher
The American rugby player, along with her teammates, made skits on the bed doing different activities that they captioned as ‘CPR’, ‘Yoga’, ‘The cry baby’, ‘Throwing a tantrum’, ‘A skips’, ‘KO’, ‘Dramatic Fainting’, ‘Clap push ups’, and ‘Beating up a robber’.

4. Eric Shoji
This volleyball player from Team USA said that he has been getting many comments asking about the infamous Olympic beds. He knocked on the headboard and the base to confirmed that it was made out of cardboard material. Shoji then asked his fellow athlete to test it out by jumping on the bed and doing one of the many classic TikTok dance move.

5. Ben Wagner
Recently, this baseball player hopped on the trend of debunking the claims. With a little twist, he invited members from Team Israel to test it out. After he jumped, they consecutively added one athlete until nine of them jumped on it. The conclusion? It took all of them before the cardboard was in shambles.
@bwangah Anyone got an extra bed for me?
