WHO applauds BTS for using sign language in their ‘Permission to Dance’ MV

BTS seems to turn anything they touch into gold – from their recent McDonald’s collab to being Hyundai brand ambassadors. Even their latest music video was applauded by the chief of the World Health Organization (WHO).

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus quoted a tweet by BigHit Entertainment, commending BTS for their efforts in including sign language for the newest music video of their single, Permission To Dance.

‘As 1.5 billion people in the world are affected by hearing loss; sign language can help them to continue enjoying music which can bring joy to life,’ Ghebreyesus added.

ARMYs were quick to identify the different sign languages incorporated in the dance, which are ‘fun,’ ‘dance,’ and ‘peace.’ Being no stranger to advocacies, their local fans also donated 45K pesos to a delivery rider for simply being a ‘decent human being’.

Permission To Dance was actually co-written by Ed Sheeran along with Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, and Jenna Andrews. The song was produced by Mac, Andrews, and Stephen Kirk. This is the K-pop group’s third English-language single after Dynamite and Butter.

‘Wrote this song a while ago and so happy it’s being heard on such a world stage and being sung by such talented people,’ Sheeran tweeted.

The music video premiered on July 9 and has over 126 million views as of writing.
