Filipinos are the 2nd highest in posting K-pop related tweets
If you want to know the latest update related to K-pop, each fandom probably took it to Twitter already. The ARMYs, Blinks, NCTzens, Once, ReVeluvs, and many others have the online power to make it a trending topic. In fact, the microblogging platform announced that there are 7.5 billion K-pop-related tweets over the recent year.
Twitter’s blog post notes that the data on the following K-pop findings were gathered between July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. In particular, the Philippines ranked the second highest out of the 20 countries that tweet by volume. It also ranked third among the countries with the most number of fans.
It means that Filipino Twitter users converse and participate in many things related to K-pop. Case in point: remember when BTS had a collab with McDo and people celebrated it like the second coming of Christ? Yup, it wasn’t too long ago.
When it comes to the most mentioned K-pop group worldwide, the boys of BTS retake the top spot. Closely following them are NCT, BLACKPINK, EXO, and TREASURE.
The blog post also included the top 5 most Retweeted Tweets, with a post by BTS landing the first spot. It’s a 15-second clip with over 28 million views, 2.8 million likes, 1.1 million retweets, and 209.2K quote tweets.
It’s followed by a tweet from NCT, showing their 2020 YearParty. Next is BLACKPINK‘s teaser of Rosé‘s solo debut, then EXO‘s special album. Last on the list is a photo of TREASURE‘s members Asahi and Haruto.
