‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ trailer proves nostalgia is a hell of a drug
We love us some Doc Ock
After an unfinished trailer was leaked by an unknown hero-erm, ‘hacker’, Sony Pictures has dropped the legit version of the teaser for Spider-Man: No Way Home – and it’s filled to the brim with callbacks to the Spideys who came before.
The clip sees Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who had his identity revealed to the world by Mysterio at the end of Far From Home, turn to Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to restore his anonymity. After a spell goes awry, the multiverse is up-ended, disrupting space and time as well as opening the doors to multiple members of Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery.
Who’s returning?

The most obvious is Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina in the second film of the original Tobey Maguire trilogy. There’s also a shot of a pumpkin bomb, a weapon owned by Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, another Maguire villain. Meanwhile, eagle-eyed viewers can spot a figure made of sand, which is then struck by lightning. Another scene shows Peter being attacked by a lizard-like figure.
So far, only Jamie Foxx, who plays Electro in the Andrew Garfield version of the films, has been confirmed to return. However, opening up the multiverse allows Marvel to complete the iconic Sinister Six by reintroducing previous foes like Sandman and The Lizard.
The return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Men has also yet to be officially confirmed, but vloggers with unspecified resources have vehemently claimed that it’s happening. If the reports prove true, and we’re in for a multiverse team-up, we think it’s safe to say that Marvel fans will lose their collective sh*t.
We’ll only know for sure when Spider-Man: No Way Home drops on December 17.
