These are apps you might not know of but need in your life

At this point, being glued to your mobile phones is an understatement. While you can use it to keep track of your emails and video call meetings, it also helps with other recreational stuff like taking photos and the occasional binge-watching. Either way, there’s no escape from gazing at that small illuminating screen.

If you want to take a break from scrolling through social media, other platforms can actually help you be more productive with your day-to-day activities. A short roundup of helpful and interesting apps for both iOS and Android devices can be found below.

You might have heard of local personalities like Erwan Heussaff and Nico Bolzico, but did you know that they had an app? Together with Gilles Hage, the three founded Rebel – a platform that contains free content on health and wellness.

To help you get out of your couch potato state, the app focuses on these three aspects: Sweat, which has a program to get the users in shape through yoga and stretching to dumbbells and body weight; Eat hopes to help users to make better decisions in their everyday eating habits, the app has convenient and healthy recipes to follow; Care is all about taking care of one’s mind. There will be guided meditations, sleep audio guides, and self-discovery discussions.

Remember that scene from Clueless where Cher went inside her walk-in closet and selected her OOTD through an outfit customizer? While that may seem too extra, Pureple Outfit Planner is a simplified version of it.

The virtual outfit planning app helps people manage their wardrobe and plan outfits. Users just have to snap a photo of their clothes and categorize them. If you’re not in the mood to style yourself, they also have an outfit suggestion engine that shows recommendations. It will definitely help you lessen your I-Don’t-Know-What-To-Wear dilemma.

There are many ways to immortalize your memories – through writing, a song, polaroid photos, and many more. But 1 Second Everyday, as the app’s name straightforwardly says, allows you to video a second of your life and digitally keep it forever.

Developer Cesar Kuriyama enjoyed documenting his life by writing in his journal. In an attempt to create something to record his life, this platform was made. He wanted it to be simple and easy. It’s described as a video diary that captures your day-to-day moments and chronologically gathers them together into a single reel.

5. Forest

Forest is perfect for people with little time on their hands but have loads of work to do. Whatever it is that you need to concentrate on, the app’s solution is pretty simple: plant a tree. Founder Shaokan Pi created it for people to stay focused and be present.

A virtual tree will grow while you work, and if you get distracted or exit the app halfway, you will be accountable for its death. While you earn coins when growing your perennial plant in digital form, they can be used to help plant trees IRL. The platform partnered with an org called Trees for the Future, which will plant real trees across different countries in Africa.

6. LastPass

If you easily forget your username and password, LastPass can be your new solution to securely hold private information. The managing tool is easy to use, making it convenient for those who aren’t interested in the more technical side.

When you visit other platforms or websites, the app auto-fills login details for you. While it can be used for free, the premium version has its perks like 1GB encrypted file storage, unlimited sharing of passwords, items and notes, and many more.

You probably heard it during health class or maybe as a piece of skincare advice: drink water. Drink Water Reminder N Tracker has a daily intake calculator that provides the necessary liquid intake level a user should have based on their sex, weight, and country (if the temperature is hot or cold).

You will see reminders that will pop up for you to chug down that glass of H2O. It has an automatic bedtime mode that pauses notifications during the middle of the night. You also can track the history of logged water and adjust past water consumption.

8. Kitchen Stories

Whether you have days when you want to whip up a good meal, or you happened to be a seasoned chef, Kitchen Stories has recipes for cooks in all experience levels. It also gives users the option to upload their own creations, commend feedbacks, and receive tips.

The founders, Mengting Gao and Verena Hubertz, met when they were business students. The two didn’t have the same skills in cooking, but both of them had a passion for food. With that in mind, they decided to develop a recipe app that contains a detailed step-by-step photo and video instructions on cooking.
