This hearing aid accessory is inspired by Catriona Gray’s iconic ear cuff
When Catriona Gray won Miss Universe in 2018, everyone had their eyes on her – from her signature lava walk to her red dress, and even the iconic ear cuff. Even if a few years had passed, a woman from Canada created an accessory for hearing aids inspired by the beauty queen’s ear cuff.
According to a report by CBC News, speech pathologist Ruzzelle Gasmen designs hearing aid accessories that are reminiscent of her Filipino heritage. Apart from the golden ear cuff, she also gets requests to create orders based on aswang wings.
Gray’s ear cuff is called Three Stars and the Sun, which takes cues from the Philippine flag and conceptualized it herself. It was then brought to life by Tessera Jewelry. The former Miss Universe also heard about the said accessory on Twitter and quoted it with pleading face emojis.

Gasmen shared that she realized that she had hearing loss when she was 20 years old. Since the price of hearing aids can be high in British Columbia, Gasmen admitted that it took her almost six years of living without the device. She explained, ‘They’re quite costly, so I just waited until I could afford them after starting my career.’
‘I just want to give back and help others who are in a similar situation,’ Gasmen said. She decided to sell her custom-made accessories to raise money for those who can’t afford hearing aids. She also said that their area’s medical plan does not cover hearing devices.
