This woman is the first Fil-Am physician to become a Barbie role model

Toy company Mattel Inc. announced a line of Barbie dolls that honors modern real-life heroes of the pandemic. Dr. Audrey Sue Cruz, a Filipino-American physician, was one of the six frontliners who was turned into a doctor, nurse, or paramedic doll.

Cruz posted a video on Instagram presenting her Barbie version with a description of her accomplishments that reads, ‘Treated COVID-19 patients, and joined forces with other Asian American physicians to fight discrimination during the pandemic.’

The half Filipina doctor also added a text stating, ‘I’m the first Filipina-American Physician to become a Barbie Role Model.

In the caption of the same post, Cruz dedicates her doll to anyone who was ever told that they couldn’t do anything. She added, ‘This is for all the little girls who never felt like they fit in. This is for all the working moms who bust their butts every day for the families. This is for anyone who has ever had to struggle and hustle to make a name for themselves.’
