An Eraserheads reunion is possible if VP Leni runs, says Ely Buendia

We’re 90% sure it’s in jest, but the prospect of an Eraserheads reunion is always a welcome one, especially if they come from legendary frontman Ely Buendia himself. The sole condition? That Vice President Leni Robredo runs for the presidency in the 2022 elections.

The OPM icon replied to a Twitter fan who asked if an E-heads reunion could happen sometime in the future. Buendia replied ‘Pag tumakbo si Leni’.

Supporters of Robredo were quick to tag the VP, labeling Buendia’s tweet as ‘extra motivation’ to file her candidacy in October. One user already drew up a campaign slogan called ‘Ligaya 2022.’

The prospect of VP Leni’s presidential campaign is a source of hope and impatience for her supporters, both in public and in politics. Former Senator Antonio Trillanes, a vocal (and persistent) supporter of Robredo, has claimed he would give up his presidential aspirations should the latter decide to run.

Her spokesperson, Atty. Barry Gutierrez, recently asked people to ‘chill’, saying that the Vice Prezzo is earnest in her desire to form a united opposition against whomever President Duterte will appoint as his ideal successor.

Robredo, who reportedly has been in talks with aspiring candidates Senator Manny Pacquiao and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, also has the option of running for local office, primarily as the governor of Camarines Sur.

According to Gutierrez, Robredo is also open to giving way to other candidates, if it’s in the best interest of the unity she is vying for.

‘She has repeatedly stated that she is willing to set aside her own presidential run to support another person, if it is in the interest of the unity she is pursuing’

‘At the end of the day, she will make a decision…Chill lang tayo, magtiwala tayo, malapit na, she will be announcing soon.’
