Lea Salonga will play as a mom in the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ reboot
There have been many impressive releases on Filipino artists are making it to international films and series. Lovie Poe is set to star in the Hollywood film The Chelsea Cowboy, while Inigo Pascual landed a role in the musical drama Monarch. Joining them is Lea Salonga who just announced that she’s a series regular on the upcoming Pretty Little Liars reboot.
In a report by Deadline, it stated that Salonga will play Elodie, Minnie’s (Malia Pyles) mother. Her character is described to be a bit overbearing and she works overtime to keep her daughter safe after a traumatic event that happened when Minnie was younger.
The 50-year-old star took the news on Instagram and expressed her excitement to be part of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Her caption reads, ‘The moms have descended upon the town of Millwood! And we have secrets and lies of our own (can’t let the children have all the fun)!’

Salonga is represented by Josh Pultz at Amplified Entertainment and Attorney Robert Perlstein. Her recent acting project follows her Tony award-winning role in Miss Saigon, American-Filipino musical drama Yellow Rose, and Disney’s Mulan.
The reboot will present a new story and a new set of characters, but will remain within the Pretty Little Liars universe. The show is set in the present-day, two decades after a string of tragic events in Millwood. A group of teenage girls are tormented by an unknown assailant and are made to pay for the “secret sin” their parents did twenty years ago, as well as their own.
Fellow actresses that will join Salonga and pose as moms for the new generation of little liars are Sharon Leal, Elena Goode, Carly Pope, and Zakiya Young. They will appear along with stars Chandler Kinney, Maia Reficco, Bailee Madison, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Alex Aiono, Mallory Bechtel, and Eric Johnson.
The OG Pretty Little Liars had seven seasons which lasted from 2010 to 2017. It was set in the fictional town of Rosewood that centered on a clique of five girls, but things went downhill when one of their friends Alison DiLaurentis went missing. The original run and reboot were both created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring.
