Inigo Pascual landed a leading role for an international musical drama

There have been several announcements on Filipinos making waves internationally in 2021 so far. Not long ago, Hidilyn Diaz finished with gold during the Tokyo Olympics, while John Arcilla won a Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice film fest. Recently, local actor and singer Inigo Pascual revealed that he’s part of an international musical drama.

On his Instagram post, the 24-year-old shared a screenshot from Hollywood news site Deadline’s article revealing that he’s part of Monarch‘s lead cast. Many of his friends and local celebrities were quick to congratulate him in the comments section. His caption reads, ‘CRAZIEST BIRTHDAY. Sorry for keeping it for so long!!’

Pascual was cast as Ace Grayson who is described to be a talented and sensitive 18-year-old orphan, who was adopted by Nicky (Anna Friel) and her husband Clive. His character is also a remarkable singer “with real swagger on stage.” He dreams to be a country star like his grandfather, but he still comes across difficulties even when he’s part of a golden family.

The multigenerational musical drama was created by Melissa London Hilfers. It follows the story of the Romans, America’s first family of country music. The clan is led by incredibly talented and strong Queen of Country Music Dottie Cantrell Roman (Susan Sarandon) and her beloved husband, Albie (Trace Adkins).

Even if the family’s name is considered as something prestigious, their foundation of success turns out to be a lie. Deadline’s description reads, ‘Heir to the crown [Nicky] will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.’

Catch Pascual in Monarch’s debut midseason on Fox starting January 30, while the show’s second episode is set to air on February 1.
