Donald Trump will launch his own platform after being banned by tech giants
Former U.S. President Donald Trump was suspended from dominant social media apps earlier this year because of his role in the outrageous Capitol riot in January. On Wednesday (Thursday, PH time), he announced that was he launching his own platform on Apple’s App Store called TRUTH Social.
Trump’s spokesperson Liz Harrington posted a press release on Twitter stating that Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) and Digital World Acquisition Group entered a merger agreement to form a new business headed by Trump. The company aims to “create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley.”
TRUTH Social will have its beta launch for “invited guests” next month, while a nationwide rollout is set to be released in the first quarter of 2022.

‘We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,’ said Trump in the statement. He explained that the platform was created to give a voice to all. He also added that he was “excited” to send out his “first truth”.
After Trump caused a commotion that led to violent protests and looting at the Congress in January, he was permanently barred from Twitter and suspended from Facebook until at least 2023. He then started a blog in May called From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, a webpage that served as an alternative platform where he expressed his statements. But it was shut down in less than a month.
According to ABC News, Trump’s announcement on TRUTH social comes months after former Trump aide Jason Miller launched a social network called GETTR in July, but Trump clarified that he has not joined it. He said in a statement, ‘I am not on any social media platform in any way, shape, or form, including Parler, GETTR, Gab, etc.’
