Drake’s new music venue is named after a party he couldn’t get into
A few months following his latest album release, Drake has something new to offer. In collaboration with Live Nation Canada, the global rapper recently opened a live entertainment venue after three years of construction in Toronto on November 7. It’s visualized to be home to many premier concerts and events.
Dubbed as History, the music destination has a modern audiovisual system and intimate feel where audiences will enjoy shows of their fave local and international artists. The venue’s general manager Steven Biasutti said that the concept of the venue was for “club-level artists experience what it would be like to play in a high-volume arena.”
‘When Drake was coming up in the city, there was a party he always wanted to get into, in the city, that he just couldn’t make it in, and the party was called History,’ Biasutti added while sharing the inspiration behind the name. ‘So he figured, how fitting, to be able to welcome artists from all over the world to this venue and he can host them now.’

While Drake doesn’t exactly own the establishment, he played a huge part as a consultant. Live Nation Canada’s president of business operations Wayne Zronik told The Toronto Star that the Grammy award-winning rapper has played in the best music venues around the world, so he knows what “a great fan experience is” which led him to help curate the concept and design of the space.
History occupies 35,000-square feet and can hold a capacity of 2,500 people. It also aims to host 200 events in a year as they present a wide array of eclectic music and arts programming. Live Nation Chairman Riley O’Connor said, ‘We are thrilled to bring History to life in Toronto with live entertainment that we know will elevate the city’s concert-going experience.’
