Ely Buendia x VP Leni is a collab people can get behind

Vice President Leni Robredo announced her candidacy for president over a week after Ely Buendia tweeted that Eraserheads will have a reunion if she runs. While the band’s comeback doesn’t look like it’s happening soon, its frontman visited the presidential aspirant – and he came bearing a special gift.

VP Leni posted photos together with Buendia on Thursday, November 11. It came with a caption stating that she received an Eraserheads 25th Anniversary Limited Edition on vinyl. She said, ‘Ely Buendia in the house!! Grabe, nabulabog opisina.’

‘Thank you, Ely. Nakita mo kung gaano kadami fans mo sa office namin,’ she added. The OPM icon’s visit followed nearly a month after his clarification that he was indeed joking about the reunion but highlighted that he supports VP Leni.

‘I may joke about frivolous things like an old band getting back together, but I’m dead serious about our people’s future,’ Buendia said in a post. The Eraserheads disbanded back in 2002 after creating hits for over a decade.

The band held a reunion concert seven years later called The Final Set. Meanwhile, one of the most recent concerts they had together was for an event in 2016 where they performed classics such as Ang Huling El Bimbo and Superproxy.

When Buendia tweeted last month that the reunion was just a “joke”, fans of the band had different reactions – and the one who replied with a meme topped the replies. Another user also suggested that his songs to possibly be used as the anthem of VP Leni during her campaign.
