Maris Racal had a ‘princess moment’ when she recorded a Disney theme song
Apart from starring in local films and being a meme queen, you’ve probably heard Maris Racal’s songs at one point. But this time, she was chosen to sing Simulan, the Filipino version of Starting Now, the official anthem for Disney’s year-long Ultimate Princess Celebration.
Disney Music Asia released the official music video of the Simulan on Friday, November 5. The song was originally performed by Grammy-winning artist Brandy, who presents the courage and kindness of Disney heroines through the track.
In an interview with PhilStar, the 24-year-old shared that she couldn’t believe that he was handpicked at first. She said, ‘Honestly, my first reaction was, ‘Sure po ba kayo, sure kayo sa decision niyo?’ Actually, it was all very sudden. Tapos tuloy-tuloy na, I was so very excited.’

The Filipino actress and singer also posted the news on her Instagram page and shared that recording a Disney theme song was “definitely a princess moment.” In another interview, Racal told Star Magic’s Inside News who her favorite princess was. She said, ‘Ang Disney princess na pinaka na-attract ako o na inspire ako ay si Elsa.’
‘Kasi na-tackle sa story ‘yung kung paano na-discover ang individuality niya, sobrang independent niya na queen and lahat naman ng mga princesses ay may kanya-kanyang story,’ Racal added.
