Mayor Vico will let you ‘kiss’ him after the pandemic
While Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is known for his efficient governance, you might have also noticed that he has a great sense of humor. During his visit to Barangay Rosario on November 9, he jokingly said that constituents will be allowed to kiss him when the pandemic is over.
ABS-CBN reporter Kat Domingo posted a video on Twitter showing Sotto giving a statement as one of the residents shouted “Mayor, pa-kiss!”. At first, the 32-year-old mayor responded with, ‘Pasensiya na po, bawal pa po ang kiss. Ipagdasal po natin na matapos na ang pandemiya na ito’
‘Ako, hindi ako mahilig mangako,’ he added. ‘Kahit balikan niyo po ‘yong mga sinasabi ko noong panahon ng kampanya noong 2019. Kahit 2016, hindi niyo po ako maririnig na nagpapangako. Ako ho ay naniniwala na dapat gawin na lang natin. Pero pangako ko po sa inyo, pagkatapos ng pandemya, kahit mag-kiss po tayo, puwedeng-pwede.’
Following Sotto’s humorous promise, supporters in the area let out screams and a Rosario citizen also exclaimed “Una na ako!”

A longer version of Sotto’s statement was uploaded to Pasig News Update‘s YouTube channel. He shared the moment how he first told his mother, Coney Reyes, that he was running for mayor. But before that, he made another joke and named comedian Ruby Rodriguez as his mom, which got people in stitches.
After all the laughs, Sotto asked for the Pasigueños to vote for him in the upcoming 2022 elections. He highlighted that he has only served for 9 months before the COVID-19 pandemic transpired. The young mayor filed his certificate of candidacy last October 1.
