Bong Joon-ho might do a sci-fi film with Robert Pattinson

Seem to be having a Parasite hangover even it’s been almost three years since its release? Well, Oscar award-winning director Bong Joon-ho is set to write and direct a sci-fi film. Not only that, but The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that he may get actor Robert Pattinson to star in it.

The untitled movie, which is being set up at Warner Bros., will be based on the forthcoming novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. It follows the story of the titular character Mickey7 who happens to be an Expandable a.k.a. disposable employee. He is sent on an expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim, where he’s ordered to take on dangerous jobs.

When Mickey7 eventually dies, he gets regenerated in a new body and retained his memories. While he was presumed dead, he returns back to the mission’s base only to figure out that he has been replaced by a duplicate of himself, Mickey8.

According to Deadline, Bong received Ashton’s manuscript of the unpublished book at the end of 2021 and it instantly “drew his interest.” He then became loosely attached to the project and met with promising stars who wanted to land the part. The report also said the director and other executives were impressed with Pattinson and felt that the actor was “perfect” for the role.

Meanwhile, Pattinson is probably busy with the upcoming premiere of his highly-anticipated appearance in The Batman, which heads to theaters on March 22.

There isn’t an exact date yet on the timeline for Bong’s new movie. But if you’re the type who wants to read the book before seeing it on the big screen, Ashton’s novel Mickey7 will be released next month.
