Filipinos are UK’s top foreign business owners
Filipinos always seem to thrive in different parts of the world – from scoring a gold medal in Tokyo to winning an award in New York. In the United Kingdom, financial company ETX Capital conducted a study that showed Filipinos are the largest group of foreign business owners in the United Kingdom.
Using the data of over 200,000 UK business owners from executive agency Companies House, the study stated that it wasn’t surprising to see how the nationality of nearly 66.8% of business owners who participated in the survey was British, while 3.3% were English.
To further see the diversity in those who invest in UK’s businesses, the research excluded other nationalities like English, Scottish, Welsh, or British from the table. It then revealed that the two most common foreign owners were from Asia: Filipino and Chinese.
The London-based firm also looked into where the participants lived. Similar to the amount of the earlier participants, it showed over half reported that their country of residence was England. But the Philippines topped the remaining 10.8% living outside the UK with 5,090 business owners.
Another interesting section of the study is the most common dates of birth of the entrepreneurs, in terms of both years and months. January ranked the highest, comprising 7,470 business owners – it appears Capricorns and Aquariuses know how to handle a bizz.
Additionally, the most common birth year is 1988, which includes 6,052 participants. The study reasons, ‘This makes sense considering the fact that business owners born in the 60s are now approaching retirement age, while many of those born in the 2000s simply aren’t old enough to make owning a business very likely.’
ETX Capital notes that the data gives people a glimpse of the United Kingdom’s continuing diversity when it comes to its businesses. It said, ‘People from all over globe are contributing to the country’s economy and in return they’re seeing their own goals and dreams come to life.’
