Olivia Rodrigo for ‘A Walk To Remember’? Mandy Moore agrees
The early 2000s birthed a lot of iconic romance flicks including A Walk to Remember. The movie celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, and lead actress Mandy Moore thinks it’s about time for a reboot.
In an interview with People, Moore revealed that she already considers someone who can play her role in the 2002 film. She said, ‘I don’t know, Olivia Rodrigo or something like that… Someone could redo this film.’
‘I would love to see it. It’s been long enough that, yeah, I feel like we’ve earned our place in cinematic history for a reboot at this point,’ she added.
A Walk to Remember was adapted from the 1999 Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. The story follows jaded and aimless high school senior Landon Carter (West) who unexpectedly falls in love with the girl he once made fun of, Jamie (Moore).
While Rodrigo’s Sour album may have topped music charts, she really started out as a child actor. But her talent for singing might also come in handy if ever she wants to land the role. The box-office hit’s director Adam Shankman shared how he discovered Moore when he heard her song I Wanna Be With You.
‘I went to the Virgin record store, saw her face, and flipped out. I said, ‘That’s my girl’,’ he continued. Nothing is really set in stone yet, but with all of these factors in play, Rodrigo might just be the next Jamie Sullivan.
Before Moore announced her pick for the movie’s reboot, online users had posted side-by-side photos of her and Rodrigo. Some even think the good 4 u singer looks like a young version of the actress.
