PH has more K-pop fans than South Korea, says Twitter

Filipino K-pop stans have constantly proven that they’re on a different level – from raving over the BTS x McDo meal to being named the second-highest in posting K-pop related tweets. Recently, Twitter posted insights showing that the Philippines is the third country with the most K-pop fans on the platform in 2021.

The country also beat South Korea, which came in fourth place. Twitter’s statement regarding the ranking explained that it was based on internal data from January 1 to December 31, 2021. There were also 7.8 billion tweets about K-pop in the same year.

When it comes to ranking the Most Tweeted about K-pop artists globally, BTS holds the number one spot. Their fanks a.k.a. ARMYs never forget to talk about their faves online and make them trend. Rounding out Twitter’s top five groups are NCT, Enhypen, EXO, and BLACKPINK.

The micro-blogging platform also announced the Rising K-pop artists globally, with Enhypen making it at the top. This list included up-and-coming acts that quite recently made a debut. The seven-member group was followed by Tomorrow X Together, Treasure, aespa, ITZY, IVE, CRAVITY, WEi, ONEUS, and CIX.

Twitter said in a statement that it has seen discussions across the world about Korean content outside the realm of K-pop. It explained, ‘With K-pop fans talking about not just their favorite music, performances, concerts, and daily lives, but showing increasing interest in dramas and webtoons with K-pop OST (original soundtracks) or starring K-pop idols.’
