DOH urges Filipinos to get a new VaxCertPH code

The Department of Health (DOH) has always urged Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19. There were also a bunch of incentives to encourage individuals – from rewarding a cow to the ‘no vax, no ride’ policy. Recently, the department advised the public to request a new version of their vaxx certificate.

The DOH posted an advisory on their social media accounts that vaccinated individuals who have generated their certificates before February 7 will have to secure the latest version since “the QR code of previously generated certificates will become outdated and unreadable”.

The department also instructed individuals to renew their codes through the government portal (vaxcert.doh.gov.ph). Another option is for them to request the digital document from the respective city hall where they got jabbed 48 hours after their full vaccination.

VaxCertPH is the official digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued for Filipinos or foreigners in the Philippines. This can be used in place of physical vaccine cards as proof of immunization. It also holds vaxx data from local government units (LGUs) that can be used for traveling within the country or abroad.

The digital certificate also contains a QR code that will be used to match data in the Vaccination Information Management System, which is a central database serving all LGUs.
