Piolo Pascual defines ‘unity’ in endorsement of VP Leni

There are many big celebrities who have already shown that they are in support of Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential bid — from Angel Locsin to Nadine Lustre, and now Piolo Pascual. The hashtag #PioloFor Leni, and “Papa P” instantly trended when the actor dropped his endorsement video.

On April 11, Pascual posted the a two-minute clip on his official Facebook page with a caption that states, ‘Ang totoong Unity ay pagkakaisa ng taumbayan. Pilipino para sa kapwa Pilipino.’

‘Ang sarap pakinggan ng salitang pagkakaisa no?’ Pascual said in his opening statement. The 45-year-old video’s theme focuses on “unity”, which is the center of the campaign of Robredo’s rival Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte.

The actor discussed Robredo’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic as the video showed a montage of individuals volunteering to gather PPEs for frontliners. It also showed footage of people coming together in a Leni-Kiko rally. He said, ‘Ganito ang itsura ng totoong unity.’

Pascual’s move was a complete 180 since he previously stated that politics was not into politics during an interview back in 2019. He also declared that he won’t publicly support any presidential aspirants. Director Antoinette Jadaone even clarified in a tweet that Pascual did the endorsement video for free, together with Film Workers 4 Leni.
