Rufa Mae Quinto mistakenly made it to the ‘Barbie’ live-action cast list

Margot Robbie was recently the talk of the Internet when the live-action Barbie movie announced its premiere date. Unexpectedly joining the hype is Rufa Mae Quinto, whose name landed on the upcoming film’s list of cast members. Filipino users were quick to spot the actress’ name and pointed it out on Twitter.

Letterboxd, an online social networking site for film lovers, posted a screenshot of Barbie‘s info page on their website. It presented a star-studded cast including Ryan Gosling and Emma Mackey, while Quinto’s name landed somewhere in the middle of all the Hollywood actors. The platform also noted that the film was helmed by Greta Gerwig.

A Twitter user who goes by @stepisowild revealed that they were the one responsible for placing the Filipino actress’ name on the list. They said while quote tweeting Lettboxd’s post, ‘OMG it’s my jail era for putting Rufa Mae Quinto here.’

Meanwhile, Letterboxd posted a follow-up tweet on April 28 and clarified that Quinto is “not in the cast of Barbie.” It said, ‘This has now been fixed. Our data is crowd-sourced via TMDb — occasionally there will be a few hiccups. Apologies for any confusion.’

TMDb is also known as The Movie Database, which is an online crowdsourced database for movie and television information.

While fans won’t see Quinto in the live-action film, some of them started the hashtag #RufaMaeForBarbieMovie and said the actress “deserves her Hollywood era.” Other users took the opportunity to make a meme and include her iconic line: Go go go!
