Will Celeste Cortesi be the next Catriona Gray?
Pasay City’s bet Celeste Cortesi recently made waves since she was crowned as Miss Universe Philippines 2022. While she previously won the Miss Earth Philippines 2018, the beauty pageant winner is grateful for receiving a “second chance” to represent the country.
Cortesi reflected on her recent pageant journey on Instagram. She shared how she owed her strength to complete from her parents and how she has grown so much since she came to the Philippines 5 years ago. She wrote, ‘I really promised myself that I would only join a pageant when I am ready to take on the responsibility of a crown, and I am now.’
‘Yesterday, I’ve received my second chance and I am beyond honored and grateful to be able to represent my country in the miss universe stage,’ Cortesi added. She also hopes that she can inspire others to put in hard work, perseverance, and faith to achieve their dreams.

Just like previous queens, Cortesi wasn’t the first candidate to have won previous beauty pageant feats. Other winners include Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez, and Miss World Philippines 2016 & Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. It just so happens that the Internet couldn’t stop comparing Cortesi to Gray.
On Twitter, Filipino online users compared Gray’s winning moment wearing the standout lava gown to Cortesi’s blue gown. Other posts also said that Cortesi exudes the same “frontrunner” vibes as Gray, who also happens to have won two of the Big 4 crown titles.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that she’ll be the next Filipina to bring home the crown when she represents the country in Miss Universe.
