ADMU will have VP Leni as 2022 graduation speaker
Remember when Swifties had a “sana all” moment after hearing that Taylor Swift will speak at the New York University graduation? Similarly, Filipino students probably felt the same since outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo is set to speak at Ateneo de Manila University’s (ADMU) upcoming commencement exercises.
Vice President for the Loyola Schools Maria Luz Vilches said in a memo that Robredo will be speaking to the university’s Class of 2022 on August 27 at the Ateneo Junior High Covered Courts.
The memo added, ‘We hope that our students will be inspired by Vice President Robredo’s example of courage, hope, and love for the nation.’
ADMU will be having its first in-person commencement rites in two years, after putting it on pause and carrying it virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Robredo previously visited the ADMU campus last May 14 and held a thanksgiving event for her supporters a.k.a. kakampinks. The event followed after she garnered 15 million votes during the recent national elections, but lost to President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Robredo had announced her plan on launching Angat Buhay, an NGO that she envisioned to be the “biggest volunteer network in our country’s history”. She will be succeeded by Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio on June 30.
