This PH bike lane is a ‘portal to Third World Hogwarts’, says Reddit
If you’re familiar with the Harry Potter franchise, you’d know that the train platform called nine and three-quarters is a way to reach Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Meanwhile, a Reddit user shared a photo of a bike line from the Philippines and named it as a “portal to Third World Hogwarts.”
Under the forum called r/UrbalHell a.k.a. The Downsides of Modern Development, the image in question showed a painted bike lane at an underpass directing to a bridge’s pillar, which had a Petron gas station signage.
While it may be confusing at first, another lane was painted on the right side, where two bikers could be seen peddling in their small designated area. Philstar Interaksyon said the Harry Potter-like lane was located along the Marikina-Infanta Highway in Pasig City.
Redditors were quick to share their thoughts on the photo posted last June 5. One user said the place “manages to be better” than America. Another one said, ‘I’ll be honest, that doesn’t look too bad. Clean, has bike lanes, trees off to the side. It’s quite nice.’
r/UrbanHell’s description stated it’s a photography subreddit of “all the hideous places human beings built or inhabit.” It read, ‘Come here for aesthetic appreciation of the darker side of the cities, towns, and villages in our shared world.’
‘We welcome any photos which show either ugliness, or a problem in urban development. Rural and suburban hell are also allowed,’ the forum’s description added.
