Fans nostalgic over Vanessa Hudgens visiting ‘High School Musical’ OG set
If you’re a High School Musical fan, the name ‘Gabriella Montez’ will probably always be linked to Vanessa Hudgens. That’s why when the actress shared that she visited the film’s OG location, nostalgia quickly hit straight to the heart of the Internet.
Hudgens posted on June 27 an Instagram video, which showed her posing in front of East High located in Salt Lake City. She also added the popular track Breaking Free as the background music.
On top of that, the video’s caption was Gabriella’s iconic line from the Disney movie, ‘Do you remember in kindergarten how you’d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?’

In an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Hudgens shared her thoughts on why HSM still makes a buzz among the younger viewers. She said, ‘It’s so crazy because it continues to live on for generations… That’s like the magic of musicals though. Musicals just have this legacy about them — they don’t go out of style.’
Apart from the Filipino-American actress, other High School Musical cast members sometimes mention or reminisce over the film. Zac Efron, who played Troy Bolton, said in a May interview that he’s open to doing a reboot of the franchise.
Hudgens’ short Instagram video has garnered over a million likes as of writing. One user commented and said that the film will be “forever iconic”, and Bart Johnson a.k.a. Coach Bolton said, ‘I saw this and had a PTSD like I couldn’t find my team captains LETS GO WILDCATS!!’
