A historian is someone who recognizes our painful past, with factual evidence.”

Pageant newbie Herlene Nicole Budol, who secured almost all the minor awards, is this year’s first runner-up, with Stacey Gabriel being the second runner-up.

This year’s judging panel includes Jane De Leon and Joshua Garcia of the highly-anticipated Darna. However, the newly-minted love team is not the only reason that Joshua Garcia trended last night.

The Internet absolutely loved Joshua’s question for one of the most awaited parts of the pageant, the Q&A. The actor asked a hotly-debated question to the second runner-up, Stacey Gabriel: “Personally, how do you distinguish a historian from a Marites?”

Stacey, hailing from Cainta Rizal, boldly answered, “A historian is one who recognizes our painful past with factual evidence. Looking back at our rich, vibrant history and as well as the time when our humanity was trampled on and our heritage was almost erased. If we look at our past, we can surely move onward and upward and rebuild, rise from this pandemic, and dream of a safer, healthier, and happier Philippines.”
