Filipinos can’t enter Taiwan without a VISA anymore

Taiwan suspended visa-free entry for Asian countries including the Philippines.

Part of the list is Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.

Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Centre (CECC) said the temporary halt of visa-free entry for selected passport holders is a COVID-19 safety measure.

On September 12, Taiwan will be reopening its visa exemption for travelers from the country’s diplomatic allies, which are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, European countries, and selected South American nations.

Philippine nationals who want to visit Taiwan will have to apply for a special entry permit with all the relevant documents attached. Interested visitors should also ensure the eligibility of the purpose of their travel. The list of eligible reasons can be seen on CECC’s website.

Fret not for frequent flyers because Taiwan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jeannette Ou said they are scheduled to hold another round of discussions for the on-hold visa waivers.
