#PinoyPride: Harvard claps back at ‘political propaganda’ comment on Tricia Robredo feature

This may not have been the ‘Pinoy Pride’ moment we were thinking of

Four days ago, the Harvard Medical School Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery page posted an interview feature they did with Dr. Patricia Robredo, the second-born daughter of former Vice President Leni Robredo who was embarking on this new journey.

However, what seemingly could have been a post about how a new student was coping with a new environment and program was brought into an unexpected new light as one of the comments caught the eye of the page itself.

A now-deleted comment on the post by one user read ‘propaganda spotted, this is a job site. not a political agenda.’

Harvard immediately responded to the comment with ‘I mean, we literally wrote a piece about a student. We write about a lot of our students. Check out our website to see more of the incredible work they do.’

This behavior is not very ‘Pinoy Pride’.

A simple glance at the institution’s LinkedIn profile shows that Harvard regularly features its students and alumni.

Since then, comments on the post have since been limited. However, some users were able to take a screenshot of the comments that called out their fellow Pinoy.

Some of the clapbacks other users were ‘Dude, please, pinapahiya mo mga Pinoy dito sa LinkedIn. Maghunos-dili ka, parang-awa mo na.’ Another comment read, ‘By the comment you have given, it seems to me you haven’t read the said article. And the featured student wasn’t even in the Politics to start with.’ 

As of writing, only congratulatory comments to Robredo remain on the post.
